"Indeed, there’s a surreal side to Family Portrait, although the film also feels hyperreal in places, with sound designer Nikolay Antonov turning up the mix at key moments. When leaves rustle, it’s like a tidal wave suddenly washing over the land. At other times the sound almost drops out completely, plunging the viewer into a troubling void."

Jordan Mintzer, The Hollywood Reporter

Studio portrait

Badsound is a Berlin-based sound post-production and music studio founded by Nikolay Antonov. For over a decade, we’ve shaped the sound of film and advertising, from sound design and re-recording mixing to original music.

Our films have screened at Sundance, Berlinale, NYFF, Tribeca, Locarno, IDFA, IFFR and many more festivals. In advertising, we’ve worked with Nike, Jordan, Coca Cola, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren, Gucci, Netflix, Amazon, Bumble, and Oura, earning a Webby People’s Voice Award and an ADC Bronze for Best Use of Sound and Music, among other accolades.

Beyond sound and music, we work as post producers and supervisors, guiding projects from the first script draft to the premiere.
